Bahama Drama Story of the Night, October 31, 2026. Some letters to the Bahama Drama page make you laugh. This one makes you sit still. A wife wrote in about her husband, a strong man who has been fighting cancer for more than eight years. Surgery after surgery, round after round of chemotherapy, hundreds of hospital visits. Now he won’t go to his appointments, he has stopped going to church, and the only thing he wants to talk about is who she plans to replace him with after he’s gone.

She sent her story in four parts, and by the end one name keeps coming up: Johnny, her best friend, the widower who comes by to pray with the family. Read all four parts below exactly as they reached the page, then tell us what you see.

My husband has cancer (Parts 1 to 4)

Part 1 of 4

My husband has cancer

Good morning Bahama Drama please keep me anonymous. My husband has cancer and has been undergoing treatment for over 8 years now back and forth.

Surgery after surgery more chemotherapy and hundreds of hospital visits can really tear down a family and their faith in God after a while.

If you've never gone though it don't comment like you know or can relate because you can't okay. She who feels it knows it okay. My husband is a very strong man and he has always been able to take on a lot of sacrifices and burdens when it came to his family that's why I love him so much.

Part 2 of 4

But when you see a man has given up all hope in himself and in God nobody can fix him not even his own wife. From last week he wouldn't allow me to take him to the hospital for any of his appointments.

He's no longer interested in attending church service with us or having prayer meetings with my best friend Johnny and his family as we've done throughout his stomach cancer fight.

I feel like I'm losing my husband even before he's actually in the ground. The only discussion we've had this week was who was I planning to replace him with after he's gone. This being a conversation that I'd rather not have especially while he seems to be starting to suffer from a mental break because of his cancer.

Part 3 of 4

But thinking about it Johnny wife also died from the same stomach cancer 4 years ago that my husband now has and Johnny said that it was a very painful experience for him and his girls to have to witness

that's why he can understand what I must be going through. Johnny never remarried because of his daughters he always said at least until they've all gone off to college.

Myself I couldn't see myself bringing another man into my husband's house after he's gone and I'd probably remain single for life because my husband is a true provider and I have never in all the years we've been married had a single problem with him sleeping with another woman.

And although me and Johnny are best of friends I can't imagine me with him after my husband's death mainly because I see him like a little brother now and that couldn't work for me even though he makes me

Part 4 of 4

laugh whenever he comes over and I'm feeling down he gives me and my husband words of encouragement all the time.

My message to all of the faithful wives out there and I know that there are few. Remember what God has put together now. And stand up with your husband even though sickness.

Do it because of who you are and what you represent as a woman of God. And if you do decide to move on after your husband's death.

Don't go disgusting that with him especially while their sick and going through something It doesn't help ladies.

Johnny is a very lucky man I see…

Why this one hits home

Cancer touches almost every family in the Bahamas. Most of us have sat in a hospital waiting room, driven somebody to treatment, or watched a strong person get tired. What this wife describes is the part people don’t talk about much: the long fight can wear down a man’s spirit, his faith and his marriage, not just his body. When he asks who she will replace him with, it may be fear talking, or it may be a man who sees something she doesn’t want to see.

She is clear that she is staying by his side, and her message to other wives is about standing firm in sickness. Then she spends a whole part of her letter on Johnny, and the Page answered with one short line that says a lot. Was the Page reading too much into it, or did the husband notice something first? If your family is living through cancer right now, lean on your church, your people, your doctors and groups like the Cancer Society of The Bahamas. Nobody should carry this alone.

Was the husband’s question fair, or was it the cancer talking? And what do you make of the Page’s reply about Johnny? Tell us in the comments.
