My people, my heart is heavy today. Yesterday, Sunday, November 1, a private Learjet 60 that was flying to North Eleuthera came down on a busy road in Palm Beach County, Florida, and all nine people on board lost their lives. Bahama Drama shared videos as the news broke, and so many of you watched, shared and prayed with us. Here are those videos, with what is confirmed so far.

What we know
The US Federal Aviation Administration says the Learjet 60, registration N722BD, left Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was headed to North Eleuthera Airport here in The Bahamas. Nine people were on board. US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed that all nine died and called it a horrific tragedy.
The jet came down on Military Trail, between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North, near Greenacres. It left a crater in the road and scattered debris just feet from homes. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said there were no reports of anyone on the ground being hurt or killed. Thank God for that.
About 600 residents of a nearby mobile home community were moved out while investigators work, with many staying at the Greenacres Community Center. Military Trail stays closed through the area, and officials say the closure could last for weeks.
Video 1: Where’s the plane?
People around the world have been asking where the plane is. At the speed that jet was moving, there is very little left that you would recognise as an aircraft. May they rest in peace.

Video 2: The last radio calls
This video carries the air traffic control radio audio from the jet’s final minutes. Please listen with care, it is hard to hear. What the crew said on that radio has not been confirmed by investigators, so we are not drawing any conclusions from it. Only the NTSB can tell us what really happened.

This is the scene left behind on Military Trail, a road that thousands of people use every day, now a crash site.

Video 4: The breaking news
This was our first video as the news broke on Sunday, when the world was just learning that a jet bound for The Bahamas had gone down.

The investigation
The National Transportation Safety Board is in charge of the investigation, with the FAA helping. NTSB investigators reached the scene on Sunday, and the board planned a media briefing in West Palm Beach on Monday. No cause has been given. Thunderstorms were reported in the region at the time, but nobody official has said whether weather played a part. Plane maker Bombardier says it will support the investigation.
Who was on board
Authorities, including the NTSB and local officials, have not released a passenger or crew list, and they say families are still being notified.
Update, Monday, November 2: The family of the jet’s co-pilot has now named her. She was Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, 20, who grew up in Palm Beach County. Her mother, Camila, and her stepfather confirmed to the New York Post and to CNN Brasil that she was working as the co-pilot on the flight, and CBS12 in West Palm Beach also confirmed her identity with her family.
Nathalia was born in Florida to a Brazilian family. She earned her private pilot’s licence at 17, before she even had a driver’s licence, while she was a student at West Boca Raton High School, with help from the School District of Palm Beach County’s Aviation Academy. Her stepfather said she had gone on to log about 1,300 flying hours. Her mother told CNN Brasil she was a good, responsible, hard-working young woman. May she rest in peace.
The other eight people on board have not been officially named. Some other names are going around online, but they have not been confirmed, and at least one person named on social media has said publicly that she was not on the plane. We will not repeat those names. We also do not yet know if any of the nine were Bahamian, or who was waiting for them in Eleuthera. When the authorities or the families speak, we will share it respectfully.

Our condolences
To the families, friends and loved ones of the nine souls lost, and to anyone in Eleuthera who was waiting for someone on that flight, Bahama Drama and lol242 send our deepest sympathy. We are praying for you. We also keep the people of Greenacres and Palm Beach County in our prayers as they deal with the shock and the disruption to their homes.
