I Wish

I walked up on a high hill today in Exuma, looking out over the city and landscape, with my inner mind and soul journeying even further beyond what was before my eyes. 🫩

And with sadness, I said to myself, I wish that one day I could see the beauty of the world before my eyes again. But all I’ve been able to see is wickedness and chaos in the many enemies I’ve faced over the years!

That’s when I realized that these people have shaped my reality and half-blinded me in a way that makes it difficult for me to see anything beyond pain and tragedy in the world.

A crocodile tear fell from my right eye while my left eye was trying to catch up, slowly filling with water. Maybe it was low on fluids from decades of overflowing, so it doesn’t really drop full tears anymore. It’s confused, maybe! Not knowing whether it’s filling up because of pain, anger, or sadness.

“Sadness from being unaware of my own internal trauma,” I told it, and it went completely dry.

“Old trifling eye,” I told it. And immediately, it filled up with fluid but never leaked over the rim.

My faithful right eye, confused, dropped another tear for me. “Thanks,” I told it!

Was it out of pity that it did so, or does it understand the dynamics of my inner monologues, philosophical arguments with my own biases, and the blind spots in my own reality?

I just wish that I could see the beauty of the world again, like I used to, instead of always believing that we’re all living in the last days, probably because of the tragedies constantly encircling my own life.

I don’t really know, but my right eye has my back as it drops another tear.

“Oh, yellow butterfly, flying into my view, yes, I can see you now!”

For a moment, my thoughts fell silent.

There you are, a little piece of beauty moving freely through a world I had spent so much time viewing through the lens of pain and disappointment.

I remember Jesus Christ made the blind man see, says the Bible. But I’m not blind, I literally have bad vision, after so many years of seeing so much darkness around me and in the world.

I beg you Lord, fix my eyes again, or surround me with people who can help me see!

Tear drops.

Thanks right eye!
