Whose better for the Bahamas?

Whose better for the Bahamas? 🇧🇸

As The Bahamas approaches its next general election, anticipated by 2026, the political landscape is charged with anticipation and skepticism. The nation has witnessed a pattern of single-term governments over the past two decades, leading many to question whether Prime Minister Philip Edward Davis of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) can defy this trend. Simultaneously, the spotlight is on Michael Pintard, leader of the Free National Movement (FNM), as he endeavors to position himself as a compelling alternative. Amidst this political theater, a significant portion of the youth electorate expresses disillusionment with both major parties, considering the Coalition of Independents (COI) as a potential protest vote.

Philip Edward Davis: Navigating Historical Precedents and Recent Controversies

Born on June 7, 1951, Philip “Brave” Davis is currently 73 years old. If re-elected in the 2026 general election, he would be 75 at the start of his new term and 80 by its conclusion in 2031, making him the oldest individual to serve as Prime Minister in Bahamian history.

Davis ascended to the prime ministership in 2021, leading the PLP to a decisive victory over the incumbent FNM. His tenure has been marked by efforts to address economic challenges and implement social reforms. Supporters commend his dedication to infrastructure development and initiatives aimed at bolstering tourism and employment.

However, Davis faces the formidable challenge of overcoming a 20 year pattern where Bahamian voters have alternated governing parties each term. Critics argue that despite his initiatives, substantial systemic changes remain elusive, and issues such as government transparency and public sector efficiency continue to persist.

Adding to the challenges, the PLP has been embroiled in controversy surrounding the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX. FTX founder Sam Bankman Fried was arrested in The Bahamas in December 2022 at the request of U.S. authorities, facing charges of fraud and conspiracy. Prime Minister Davis stated that The Bahamas and the United States have a shared interest in holding accountable all individuals associated with FTX who may have betrayed the public trust and broken the law.

Further scrutiny arose when it was revealed that Davis had communicated with Bankman-Fried, seeking advice for his son, Christopher Davis. The government has denied that Christopher received any funding from FTX.

Michael Pintard: Crafting a Vision Amidst Past Controversies

Michael Pintard, who assumed leadership of the FNM following their 2021 electoral defeat, is tasked with rejuvenating the party’s image and reconnecting with the electorate. His background in community activism and the arts provides him with a unique perspective on national issues.

Pintard advocates for economic diversification, education reform, and enhanced support for small businesses. Nonetheless, he must contend with the FNM’s recent electoral setbacks and internal divisions. Convincing the populace that the FNM offers a viable and innovative alternative requires not only policy proposals but also rebuilding public trust.

Pintard’s political journey has not been without controversy. In 2016, he resigned as FNM Chairman amid a scandal involving Canadian fashion mogul Peter Nygard. Pintard was named in a lawsuit alleging involvement in a conspiracy orchestrated by Nygard against environmental group Save The Bays. Although Pintard denied any wrongdoing, the incident cast a shadow over his political career.

More recently, in December 2024, Pintard and five other opposition legislators were suspended from two sittings of Parliament following an incident where the deputy leader of the FNM, Shanendon Cartwright, threw the mace out of the chamber in protest. The protest was in response to the Speaker’s decision not to allow Pintard to address allegations in a U.S. indictment that members of the Royal Bahamas Police Force were involved in drug trafficking.

Royal Bahamas Police Force: Turmoil Amid Drug Trafficking Allegations

The Royal Bahamas Police Force has recently been engulfed in scandal following U.S. allegations of a police-sanctioned cocaine trafficking scheme. In late 2024, Commissioner Clayton Fernander resigned after a police sergeant, a senior police officer, and a Royal Bahamas Defense Force officer, along with several other suspects, were indicted in the U.S. The U.S. Justice Department described the case as a “massive cocaine importation conspiracy enabled by corrupt Bahamian government officials, including high-ranking members of the Royal Bahamas Police Force.”

The indictment alleges that since May 2021, drug traffickers have smuggled tons of cocaine through The Bahamas bound for the U.S., with the assistance of corrupt local officials who controlled airports and provided information about U.S. Coast Guard movements. This scandal has raised serious concerns about corruption within the Bahamian law enforcement agencies and has become a significant issue in the political discourse leading up to the election.

Coalition of Independents: A New Contender Amid Legal Challenges

The Coalition of Independents (COI), led by Lincoln Bain, has emerged as a potential alternative for voters disillusioned with the traditional two-party system. The COI emphasizes grassroots involvement and positions itself as a departure from conventional party politics.

However, Bain’s leadership has been marred by legal challenges. In February 2023, he was charged with unlawful assembly following a protest that ended in chaos. Bain and several supporters were accused of causing a disturbance in Parliament Square and refusing police orders to disperse.

Additionally, in September 2022, Bain lost a bid to overturn a Supreme Court judgment ordering him to pay $64,000 to a woman who had entrusted him with her life savings in 2010. While he succeeded in quashing a default prison sentence of 90 days, the financial judgment remained.

I’ve been to heaven before

I’ve been to heaven before

Good night Bahama Drama please keep me anonymous. I’m a long time follower on your page and I’ve always been respectful to everyone here no matter what the story was about so I just ask for the same amount of respect that I’ve shown others here so I just wanted to share my life experience that I had with Jesus Christ the night I died at PMH.

It was last year when I had a operation mistakenly by accident which was supposed to be for a whole different patient who just had my first name but not my last name. The lady didn’t even fully read my chart or nothing and I had just given birth an hour ago and all I

can remember was I was in between consciousness and out of consciousness. She said your going into surgery now to remove the blood clots is your family here do you want to make a quick phone call to anyone?

I was so drugged up I don’t even remember what was my answer but I remember that I was still bleeding heavily after my baby.

So they moved me over to another bed and started rolling me out to the elevator with all kinds of IV still in my arms and now a breathing mask on my face to tell you the truth I didn’t know what was going on all I knew is that I was bleeding like she had said.

When we finally got in the operating theater I saw all kinds of Doctors already mask up and the bright lights prepared for me to be rolled under.

That’s when they switched the breathing mask on my face to another mask that was obviously waiting for me and all I saw was darkness.

As I was in total darkness I heard them say we’re losing her and my body getting lighter and lighter like I could fly kind of lighter.

Then I saw a bright light the brightest light that anyone could imagine. I looked around in the light where I was both ways and all I could see was light like I was in a all white bright light room.

But the thing so strange was it wasn’t a shining white light it was a zone of existence that I was in. So I began to panic like where the hell am I and why can’t I see anything but all of this white where an I.

Lord I was so scared.

I then logically tried to calm myself down because this couldn’t be real is what I told my thinking mind and that’s when I encountered the Angel. He was made out of lightning and I felt all of the heat radiating from his body.

And I was actually not afraid anymore for some odd reason I believe. I then asked him what happened? Lord am I dead?

I’m sure that I didn’t have human eyes when I was looking at him because all was bright white but somehow I was seeing all of this but I couldn’t see my own body as I was trying to.

It was like I didn’t have a body anymore only a head with eyes because I remember being able to look both ways and all around and I think that I would need a neck and a head to do that with.

That’s when the angel said that I’m blessings you and you are my love I will always be with you don’t worry about a thing. I am with you.

I started crying saying Lord I love you and the world has been so painful for me and my baby I don’t know what’s going to happen to her. The Angel said I am with you and that’s when I woke up in the ICU of PMH only on drips.

They later told me that they made a mistake with my chart and that I had to stay in the hospital for a few more days but everything was fine with me and my baby but they were still keeping me for observation.

I asked them what about the surgery. The nurse said that the doctor will be in to see you in a while. To this day I never seen the doctor and I’m still wondering if all of this really happened.

Did I really go to heaven and see God and am I special? I really don’t know but all I can say is that I believe in God now and I am a born again Christian.

The house by the graveyard 🪦

The house by the graveyard 🪦

Good night Bahama Drama please keep me anonymous. I don’t know if you’ve ever lived on the side of a graveyard because the price of rent was much cheaper than other apartments but I have and I can tell you one thing.

Don’t look out of the back windows into the graveyard at night especially midnight or 3:00 in the morning because that’s the time most people who have died is be sitting on their tombstones or grave. But that’s really not the scariest part.

If you have fear in you they is run towards the window that your looking out of frighteningly fast.

The last time this happened to me and my girl is when we was living by the graveyard off of Nassau Street where the first PM is buried. We had just finished looking at some action movies and one of them was Black panther man the first Black panther was the hardest to me bey.

But away me and my girlfriend was sitting in the living room watching it and I got up to go use the bathroom for a second. As I was standing up taking a piss I started looking out of the bathroom window towards the graveyard because there was a smooth breeze blowing through the window.

It must of been after midnight because I remember after watching the last movie I had asked my girlfriend what time it was because I don’t want to stay up to late because I knew I had work in the morning.

So as I gazed through the window I saw the woman dressed up in a nice dress sitting on top of a grave looking my way. At first I thought it might be a joneser or somebody weird as hell just out there really late that probably had some kind of mental problems.

So I shook the monster off put him back into his cage and went closer to the window to see the lady clearer.

That’s when she slowly put her head down in her lap as if she was crying for someone which really made me more curious about what was going on and why she was there.

That’s when I turned off the bathroom lights so maybe she couldn’t see me looking anymore. That’s when I put my head to the window screen to see better because now that the lights were off I could see much more clearer.

The lady stood up on the white grave and slowly raised her head up looking back in my direction and ran towards my house back window and her dress was not clean anymore it had mud or something on it.

I ran the hell out of my bathroom and slammed the bathroom door as my girl asked me bey what happened? And before I could tell her what had happened all kinds of ruckus started happening in the bathroom like things were getting thrown around and slammed and the bathroom door was being beaten on.

My girl said what the fuck is that in the bathroom making doing that? I told her that it’s a ghost and we both ran into the the kitchen where the knives were and she grabbed one and I grabbed two of them shits and suddenly the noise stopped but not as soon as we grabbed the knives.

A few minutes later we heard the spirit laughing want demonic ass laugh in the bathroom. We wanted to run out of the house as that’s the direction my girl was running but I grabbed her before she could get to the front door because I knew that dead woman might have been at the front door outside so I pulled my girl into the kitchen you see.

But I’ll never forget that night or that laugh bey! For real.
And I’ll never live close to a graveyard or look out of my window at night into a graveyard. Bey after that I don’t even go to funerals bra F that!

So yeah these shits is real rather you believe it or not, the dead ain’t dead.

Well I don’t give a damn how cheap the rent is living close to a graveyard is a no no for me anyways lol…

I step in there and it’s like I got slapped in the face with the smell of money everybody lookin like they got their own yacht like they just waitin for the paparazzi to show up and take their picture for the next cover of some magazine I never heard of

That’s when I see her the one and only Isabella sittin by herself at the bar holdin a martini like she owns the place long black hair flowin like a damn goddess red dress clingin to her like it was made just for her curves and she just sittin there like she don’t even care about the world

Now look I’m a man who ain’t shy to talk to a woman but I ain’t never felt so outta place in my life this woman lookin like she got more class in her pinky than I got in my whole bein but I walk over anyway tryin to act smooth like I got this

I introduce myself try to keep it cool and to my surprise she actually pay attention to me She tell me she from Argentina been in Miami for years and work as a real estate agent sellin million dollar mansions to rich folks and I’m sittin there like Yeah she’s way outta my league but I’m not about to let this chance slip through my fingers

So we talk for hours she makin me laugh tellin me about her crazy life and she just so damn charming it feel like time stoppin every time she smile I swear she made me feel like I was the only person in that whole bar and that kinda attention Man that was rare By the end of the night she hands me her number and says Call me tomorrow like it’s no big deal and I’m sittin there thinkin Yeah this might be the start of somethin special

Next day I call her she picks up on the third ring we talk for hours again and before I know it she’s askin me to dinner that weekend And I’m thinkin This is it I’m bout to lock this down this one’s gonna be mine

So the night of the date comes right I step out in my best outfit thinkin I’m killin it pull up at this fancy Italian restaurant and she walks in and bruh she look even better than I remember like a damn angel from heaven She sittin there smilin lookin like she’s ready to rule the world and I’m just tryna keep my cool you know We eatin drinkin laughin everythin perfect until she says Let’s head back to mine

Now I’m thinkin Aight this is it I’m about to seal the deal so I follow her back to her place right And let me tell you her house It wasn’t just a house it was a damn palace This thing had a pool that looked like it belonged in a resort a garden so big I thought I was in some kinda botanical garden and a chandelier in the living room so big it probably had its own zip code

We sittin on the couch we talkin we laughin and things start heatin up real quick She leans in and we start kissin and I swear I’m floatin I’m in heaven this is the moment Then outta nowhere she pulls away and says Wait here I got somethin I wanna show you

Now I’m thinkin Alright this is the moment she about to blow my mind with some sexy surprise but she disappears into another room and I’m sittin there all confused like What the hell is goin on

She comes back holdin a photo album and now I’m thinkin Is she about to show me some embarrassing pictures What is this She sits down next to me opens the album and starts flippin through it

These are all my exes she says pointin to picture after picture of different men and I’m sittin there tryna keep it cool but inside I’m like What the hell is this

But I play along right I’m tryin not to look like I’m losin my mind so I say Oh cool nice pictures Then she looks at me dead serious and says They all live here

I freeze Like what do you mean they all live here She laughs and says Don’t worry They ain’t here right now they all outta town But they comin back soon

Now I’m sittin there head spinnin I can’t process what she just said Like is she jokin Is this some kinda weird test Before I can even ask what she mean she leans in close looks me dead in the eyes and whispers But you’re different I think you could be the one

I ain’t know whether to be flattered or scared for my life at that point But I don’t back down I stay cool She stands up says Come on let me show you the rest of the house

I follow her through the house now I’m tryna figure out what kinda mess I got myself into She show me the kitchen the pool then we head down to the basement

Now this basement It wasn’t like any basement I’ve ever seen It was set up like a lounge with a bar pool table big screen TV all that But what threw me off was the walls picture after picture of her exes all framed like trophies It was like a damn hall of fame but for ex boyfriends

My stomach dropped I felt sick like I was bout to throw up right there

So she looks at me all sweet and asks So what do you think And I swear she just smile like she didn’t show me the creepiest thing I ever seen in my life

I don’t know what to say I just nod and say Its nice

She laughs says You funny I like that

We go back upstairs and I’m already plottin my escape But before I can make a move she claps her hands twice and outta nowhere doors start openin all over the house

Next thing I know dudes start comin out like 15 or more white guys all naked and hard as rocks They’re smilin at me like they’re about to welcome me to some kinda freaky club

I’m standin there frozen like What the actual hell is goin on

Then Isabella starts undressin too and I’m thinkin Oh nah she probably does this to all the new guys

The dudes start closin in on me tryna sandwich me but I don’t go that way so I start pushin em off yellin Nah nah nah I’m out

I bolted for the door dodgin hands left and right and I ain’t stop runnin until I was halfway down the block I didn’t even look back

She called my phone for days after that but I never answered To this day I don’t know what kinda cult or freaky club I stumbled into but one thing’s for sure I ain’t never goin back.

Ghosts in Parliament no bullshit

Ghosts in Parliament no bullshit

Listen I don’t care what nobody say something’s wrong with that place. There’s real devils in there.

Six years ago I used to clean the House of Assembly when the company I worked for had the contract. I was there late at night sweeping mopping wiping down desks normal work. But let me tell you when that place get quiet it too quiet.

I never used to believe in ghosts like that. But after what I see with my own two eyes I don’t even like walking past that building after dark.

The First Time I Saw Them

One night I was working alone in the main chamber. It was past 2 AM and the place was dead silent. I was wiping down the wooden benches minding my own business when I hear something talking.

At first it sound far away like a Parliament debate going on in another room. But the voices was too many low murmuring then getting louder like an argument about to break out.

I turn around and I see them.

Men and women sitting in the benches. Some Black some white all dressed in old-fashioned suits and dresses not from this time. At first I thought maybe it was just shadows playing tricks on me. But then I look closer and I recognize a few of them.

I see faces I know from portraits on the walls.

Dead politicians. Leaders. Ministers.

They wasn’t looking at me. They was arguing shouting at each other pointing fingers slamming hands on the benches like they still debating some old bill from 50 60 years ago. But I couldn’t make out no words just this loud buzzing sound like a swarm of angry bees.

Then just like that they disappear.

I stand there heart beating fast trying to tell myself I just seeing things. Maybe I tired. Maybe the air playing tricks on me.

But the next night.

They come back.

They Saw Me

This time they wasn’t just sitting.

One tall stern-looking man in a black suit stand up and start pointing at another ghost across the room. He face was tight his mouth moving fast like he real upset. Then a woman in a long dress stand up next to him. She look angry but also like she in pain.

That’s when I mess up.

I gasp.

The tall man snap his head toward me. His eyes black. Hollow. Empty. The kind of eyes that make your chest tighten up.

Then the others start turning.

One by one.

Looking straight at me.

I feel my legs move before I even realize what happening. I run.

I ain’t stop running till I was outside gasping for air. My supervisor laugh it off say I too jumpy. But I know what I see.

And it ain’t stop there.

The Whispering and the Basement

Every night after that I hear them. Footsteps when I know ain’t nobody else inside. Chairs moving by themselves.

And the whispers.

Not loud arguing no more soft whispers. Right in my ear.

Betrayal Treason Revenge

Sometimes I swear I hear my own name.

And then there’s the basement.

Anybody who work there know about the basement. It been there from colonial times back when the British first build the place. Some say it was a holding cell for prisoners back in the old days. Others say it’s just storage.

All I know is nobody go down there at night.

The other cleaners talk about the locked door down there. The one with the scratches all over it like somebody try claw they way out. They say that’s where the real spirits are.

One night I let curiosity nearly kill me.

I go down there.

The door was right where they say it was. Old rusted covered in weird markings. I put my hand on the knob.

And then.

A voice on the other side call my name.

I run out so fast I nearly trip over my own feet.

Supervisor tell me it just the wind but I know what I hear. The House of Assembly ain’t just a government building. It’s a place where the dead still fighting for power.

And if those spirits ever break loose.

Pray for all of us.
