Nassau: man shot dead near Potter’s Cay Dock

What police say happened. A 25-year-old man was shot dead near the entrance to Potter’s Cay Dock on East Bay Street early Tuesday morning, after a reported verbal altercation involving one of his friends and another man at a business establishment. According to preliminary investigations, the victim left the establishment with two male friends and was travelling east along East Bay Street. As they approached the entrance to Potter’s Cay Dock, a blue vehicle reportedly pulled alongside them, and a male suspect allegedly produced a firearm and opened fire, fatally wounding him. The other occupants escaped injury. Source: The Tribune
The scene. Police found a white Acura RDX that had veered to the southern side of the street and stopped on the sidewalk, its driver’s door open. The victim, dressed in a navy-blue shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers, was lying on the ground beside the vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body. Emergency Medical Services confirmed he showed no signs of life. The suspects fled east along East Bay Street in the blue vehicle. There are no reports of an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police.

Our advice
When you leave a party or a club and tempers start to rise, walk away. No argument is worth your life. And if you see something, say something: share what you know with the police and help bring peace to a grieving family. Exuma business owners, get to George Town early tomorrow, and Eleuthera parents, bring the young athletes out to Rock Sound on Saturday.
