Exuma: Business Outlook tomorrow

The 20th annual Exuma Business Outlook is tomorrow, Thursday, October 15, at the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church Community Centre in George Town. Sampson Cay: there is still no Supreme Court ruling in the challenge to the Rosewood Exuma environmental approvals. Travellers by boat into the cays this week should leave a float plan, monitor VHF channel 16, and carry extra fuel and water — Family Island stations are far apart.
The far south: a quiet mid-morning check

From Inagua and Mayaguana through Acklins, Crooked Island and Ragged Island, we found no new local headlines in this mid-morning check of the major newsrooms.

Still watching. On the wider capital desk mid-morning, we found no brand-new hard updates beyond the Sandals Royal Bahamian limitation ruling and the Public Accounts Committee’s National Investment Fund questions already reported earlier today. Two calendar dates still matter nationwide: Exuma’s Business Outlook tomorrow, and Charlton’s Rock Sound clinic on Saturday.
Weather and tropical outlook
New Providence on Wednesday: mostly cloudy and warm, a high near 88°F, a low around 77°F, east-northeast winds around 9 mph, and about a 21 percent chance of a passing shower. Thursday: a high near 89°F, a low around 77°F, winds turning more easterly around 10 mph, and about a 33 percent shower chance (Open-Meteo). The U.S. National Hurricane Center reports tropical cyclone formation is not expected over the next 7 days.
Our advice
Exuma business owners: tomorrow is your day — show up, bring your questions, and hold speakers to realistic timeframes. Parents and coaches in South Eleuthera: get young hurdlers to Charlton’s free clinic on Saturday. And if you have family on Long Island, especially seniors, keep checking in until the mailboat situation improves.
