Why you shouldn’t vote

Why you shouldn’t vote

The facts are the facts, and every Bahamian should take a moment to reflect on how far we have come in standing up for ourselves during a time when many feel that decisions are being made without the people in mind.

In recent years, there has been growing concern about legislation and policies that many citizens believe do not prioritize Bahamians first. One of the most talked about examples is the Smuggling of Migrants Bill 2025, which for many became a defining moment in how they view the direction of leadership in this country. Right or wrong, that bill sparked serious national debate and made many Bahamians question who is truly being represented.

These concerns cannot simply be brushed aside or ignored. Whether you agree or disagree, the voices raising these issues are highlighting frustrations that exist across this country.

The Coalition of Independents has been one of the groups consistently calling attention to these matters. Their role in questioning decisions, challenging policies, and encouraging national awareness has resonated with a portion of the population that feels unheard. That contribution deserves recognition. Dismissing those concerns outright does not strengthen the country; it only deepens division.

At the same time, Bahamians must also look inward. Voting habits, party loyalty, and emotional decision making have played a major role in shaping where the country stands today. If the same patterns continue without critical thinking, the outcome will not change. The responsibility does not fall only on leadership; it also rests with the people.

Immigration remains one of the most serious national discussions. Most Bahamians are not against anyone seeking a better life, but there are real concerns about how policies are managed, enforced, and balanced with the needs of citizens. This issue requires careful, fair, and transparent leadership; not fear, not division, but clear policy and accountability.

As the next election approaches, reality must also be faced. While the Coalition of Independents has raised awareness and challenged the national conversation, the numbers at this time do not suggest they have the nationwide base required to win a general election on their own. That is not an attack; it is a strategic truth.

In a system driven by voter distribution and constituency wins, splitting the opposition vote increases the likelihood of the incumbent party remaining in power. That is a risk Bahamians cannot afford to ignore.

This brings the country to a critical point of decision; continue divided, or think strategically about unity where it matters most. For many, this election is not just about preference; it is about direction. Strategy must now stand alongside principle.

None of this removes the need for accountability. No party, no movement, and no leader should ever be supported blindly. Any path forward must be built on clear expectations, transparency, and a commitment to policies that put Bahamians first.

This election will not just be about who people support; it will be about how people think.

Divide the vote, and the outcome may already be decided.

Unite with purpose, and the country may yet choose a different path forward.

Nassau Funeral Fears Rise as Families Claim Caskets May Be Reused

Nassau Funeral Fears Rise as Families Claim Caskets May Be Reused

A disturbing concern is quietly spreading among grieving families, raising serious questions about trust, respect, and what truly happens after a loved one is laid to rest.

Across different parts of the world, there have been documented cases where funeral homes were accused of removing bodies after burial and reselling the same caskets to new customers. Reports and investigations into such practices have surfaced over the years, with some claims supported by evidence that shocked communities and regulators alike.

Now, similar fears are beginning to surface closer to home.

In recent weeks, multiple families have reached out through our inbox with troubling accounts. They claim that after burying their loved ones, they later attended other funerals and noticed something chilling the exact same casket they had purchased, complete with distinctive marks, scratches, and imperfections they clearly remembered.

For grieving relatives, the thought is unbearable.

“I know what we buried my father in,” one family member told us. “We had marked it without even realizing, a small dent near the handle. Weeks later, we saw that same dent at another funeral. You don’t forget something like that.”

While these claims have not yet been officially verified, they echo documented cases from abroad, where unethical funeral operators have been exposed for cutting costs by reusing burial materials in secret.

The implications are deeply troubling. Families spend thousands of dollars to ensure their loved ones are laid to rest with dignity. The idea that those final arrangements could be tampered with is not just a financial issue, it is a violation of trust at the most vulnerable moment in a person’s life.

So what can families do?

Some are now taking matters into their own hands.

A growing suggestion among concerned citizens is simple but drastic: before burial, damage the casket in a visible and permanent way. A few hammer dents, deep scratches, or other unmistakable markings could make it impossible for the casket to be resold without raising suspicion.

It’s not about disrespect, it’s about protection.

“If I have to dent it myself to make sure my mother rests in peace, then so be it,” another resident shared. “Nobody should profit twice off our grief.”

Industry professionals insist that reputable funeral homes follow strict ethical standards, and many do. However, cases from around the world prove that not all operators uphold those values.

This raises an urgent question for local authorities:

Are there enough inspections, regulations, and oversight measures in place to guarantee that burial practices are being handled properly?

Until those answers are clear, families are left with uncertainty and a growing sense that even in death, their loved ones may not be safe from exploitation.

For now, one thing is certain: trust, once broken, is hard to restore. And when it comes to burying the dead, there should never be room for doubt.

Are you a Christian or a Jewish really?

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — In a thought-provoking message that is stirring deep reflection across Christian communities here in The Bahamas and beyond, one perspective has emerged that challenges believers to reconsider their spiritual identity in light of the Jewish roots of their faith.

The statement asserts that all true Christians are, in a profound spiritual sense, connected to the Jewish people through their unity with Jesus Christ known in Hebrew as Yeshua (יֵשׁוּעַ), the King of the Jews. It reminds readers that Jesus Christ lived and died as a Jew, a Jewish Rabbi from Bethlehem whose teachings continue to guide millions worldwide.

According to the view presented, followers of this Jewish Messiah should embrace the heritage that shaped His life and ministry. The call is clear: set aside long-held narratives and teachings that may have distanced Christians from these origins, and instead accept the Jewish foundation woven into the fabric of the Christian faith.

This perspective draws attention to the historical reality that Jesus, referred to by some as Yahshua or more commonly as Yeshua in scholarly discussions, operated entirely within first-century Jewish life and custom. His message of salvation carries deep significance tied to the promises made to the people of Israel.

For many Bahamians who hold strong Christian convictions whether attending vibrant Sunday services in Nassau, family gatherings on the Family Islands, or quiet devotions amid our beautiful shores this message invites sincere examination of Scripture. Passages such as those in the writings of the Apostle Paul speak of Gentile believers being “grafted in” to the rich spiritual tree rooted in Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, sharing in the blessings without erasing distinct identities.

While the article encourages greater appreciation for the Jewish heritage of the faith a heritage that produced the Scriptures, the prophets, and the long-awaited Messiah mainstream Christian understanding maintains important distinctions. Ethnic and national identities remain, even as all believers find unity and equal standing in Christ.

This discussion arrives at a time when many in The Bahamas continue to explore the deeper meanings of faith, especially amid the challenges and blessings of daily life in our island nation. It serves as a reminder of the profound connections between the Old and New Testaments, and the enduring respect owed to the Jewish people from whom the Saviour came.

Readers are encouraged to study the Scriptures prayerfully and seek wise counsel from pastors and teachers. What are your thoughts on this matter? Does this call to recognize shared spiritual heritage resonate with you, or do you see important boundaries that should be preserved?

Bahama Drama will continue to bring you such stories that matter to the hearts and minds of Bahamians. Share your views in the comments below, and stay tuned for more insightful reports from across our nation and the wider world.

There are families in this country who truly believe, deep in their bones, that power belongs to them… and to their children… forever.

Let that sink in.

Not because they were chosen.
Not because they earned it.
But because, in their minds, it was never meant for you.

And the uncomfortable truth?
Power like that doesn’t survive on its own… it survives because people keep feeding it through silence, loyalty, fear, and habit, “привычка”.

So every time we complain but don’t act…
Every time we vote the same way out of habit…
Every time we accept less than we deserve…

We help keep that cycle alive.

But here’s the part they hope you never realize:

Nothing changes until people decide it does.

Not all of them think this way, though.
There are some who move with respect, who understand that leadership is service, not control.

Those are the ones who lead with love, not entitlement.

The question is, which ones are we choosing to keep in power?

Think about it.

There are families in this country who truly believe, deep in their bones, that power belongs to them… and to their children… forever.
