The Ghost of Hatchet Bay
The Ghost of Hatchet Bay
Based on a true story:
By: Michael Elijah Muhammad Clare
They say back in the early 1960s, there was a young woman from Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera pretty, quiet, and hardworking. She fell for a man who wasn’t just older, but married. He had a good job, plenty charm, and plenty talk. People used to say he could sweet talk the salt out the sea.
When she got pregnant for him, the whole settlement turn against her. Back then, that was shame of the highest order, especially when the man had a wife already living just ‘cross the hill. The story goes that one evening, the women from the town gathered up by the corner shop and said she had “bring disgrace to the Bay.”
They dragged her out near the old silk cotton tree by the curve the one just before the first speed bump and they stoned her. Some say the man’s own sister threw the first rock. Nobody ever saw the woman alive again after that night. But they say her blood stained the roots of that tree so deep, it never faded.
Soon after, strange things started happening.
Drivers passing through late at night began seeing a woman standing under that same tree wearing old-time clothes, barefoot, her hair down in her face. Sometimes she has a baby in her arms, sometimes the baby just sitting quiet by her feet.
If you stop, she don’t speak. She just nods and points down the road, asking for a ride.
People who stop say she gets in the back seat, quiet as a whisper. But when they reach near the second speed bump, she’s gone. Vanished.
Some say she can’t cross that bump, that’s the invisible line between Hatchet Bay and the settlement where the married man was from. The curse was laid that night when she died: her spirit would never cross into his town again.
Even today, folks say if you pass there too late round one o’clock or so you might see her. Sitting under the tree. Rocking her baby. Waiting for the man who never came back for her.
And if you’re real unlucky she might ask you for a ride.

This is real no lie. I remember in 2017 I picked this woman up who couldn’t go past the same speed bump this story mentioned. By damn, I didn’t know about that back then, ain’t nobody tell me!

Good morning Bahama Drama,
Good morning Bahama Drama,
There has been a lot of confusion and strong opinions circulating about online services that help people apply for Bahamas work permits and visa-related documentation. It’s important to slow things down and look at what’s actually happening.
The reality is simple: immigration systems around the world have moved online. Applications, approvals, and supporting documents are increasingly processed through digital platforms to make things faster, more transparent, and easier to track. When used properly, these systems help both applicants and government agencies by reducing paperwork delays and improving compliance.
Some people have raised concerns about certain websites being used for “fast tracking” or bypassing official processes. But there is a key distinction that often gets missed — legitimate service platforms do not replace immigration law or government approval. They simply help applicants submit information correctly, avoid errors, and follow the proper steps required by the system.
Instead of assuming wrongdoing, the better question is whether a platform is helping people do things correctly, or encouraging shortcuts that break the rules. That difference matters.
If a service is guiding applicants through the proper legal process, then it is not the problem — it is part of the solution. Governments can only process what is submitted correctly, and applicants still go through full review, verification, and approval stages.
For those interested in the service being discussed, it is presented as a structured application support platform designed to help users complete their work permit submissions properly and in order:

At the end of the day, the focus should not be on shutting down tools that help people follow procedures, but on ensuring that everyone — applicants and administrators alike — stays aligned with the official immigration framework and national regulations.
Doing things the right way has always been the only way that actually works in the long run.

Gospel of Philip
Gospel of Philip
“Most things in the world, as long as their inner parts are hidden, stand upright and live. If they are revealed, they die, as is illustrated by the visible man: as long as the intestines of the man are hidden, the man is alive; when his intestines are exposed and come out of him, the man will die. So also with the tree: while its root is hidden, it sprouts and grows. If its root is exposed, the tree dries up.
So it is with every birth that is in the world, not only with the revealed but with the hidden. For so long as the root of wickedness is hidden, it is strong. But when it is recognized, it is dissolved. When it is revealed, it perishes.
That is why the Word says, ‘Already the axe is laid at the root of the trees’ (Mt 3:10). It will not merely cut – what is cut sprouts again — but the ax penetrates deeply, until it brings up the root.
Jesus pulled out the root of the whole place, while others did it only partially.
As for ourselves, let each one of us dig down after the root of evil which is within one, and let one pluck it out of one’s heart from the root. It will be plucked out if we recognize it. But if we are ignorant of it, it takes root in us and produces its fruit in our heart. It masters us. We are its slaves. It takes us captive, to make us do what we do not want; and what we do want, we do not do. It is powerful because we have not recognized it.”
