May God send comfort

The Cyber Crimes Unit scanning the devices of activists and storytellers like myself every day, looking for evidence of treason, while murderers walking free with all kinda evidence sitting right on their phones. That’s why people vex with the police so much. Even the police don’t trust the police.

My spirit tells me that all 4 hitman are all high school students.

My condolences to the mother, family and the innocent child that witnessed her father being slaughtered in the front of her face… 🙏🏽

Bahama Drama will be doing a 24 hours silent protest that calls for stiffer laws being implemented by Parliament and the worst of the worst to be judged by the people. You kill you are killed simple as apple pie 🥧

So if this is something that you want as well join me with not posting anything on any social media platform for 24 hours of tonights after our last post at 8:00 PM Bahamian time. So that’s probably like 30 minutes after 8:00 PM.

This might sound small but when we all do it together, it makes a huge statement to our leaders in the Bahamas. So please 🥺 let your silence be heard for 24 hours 🙏🏽

RIP

May God send comfort

Why you can’t afford to buy a home today & maybe your own kids and grandkids won’t be able to as well in the future Bahamas

Think about who you’ll most likely be voting for because your political party didn’t really give you any say. They just picked the candidate based on how much money they have to spend for their campaign finances.

The high cost of housing in the Bahamas isn’t just by chance, it’s a result of economic policies that favor a small, powerful group.

A select few hold control over wealth and opportunity in this country. They influence wages, housing prices, and inflation, making it harder for everyday Bahamians to get ahead. Have you ever wondered why salaries remain low while the cost of living keeps rising? It’s not by accident.

If you’re unfamiliar with the term oligarch, look it up, it’s an important concept to understand as an adult.

The struggles many Bahamians face today didn’t happen overnight. These issues stem from decisions made by those in power, and it’s up to us to recognize that and demand better.

The Forgotten Slave Graves PMH sets on top of

Long before the hum of ventilators and the hurried footsteps of nurses, the land where Princess Margaret Hospital PMH now stands held only silence. It was not the silence of the living, but of the forgotten dead the enslaved souls buried beneath its foundation.

A Graveyard in Plain Sight

In the 18th and 19th centuries, when Nassau’s wealthy were laid to rest in marked graves at Western Cemetery, the enslaved and the poor were cast aside, buried in Potter’s Field, an unmarked burial ground stretching across what is now PMH. The British colonial rulers saw no value in marking the resting places of those who built their empire in chains. Instead, bodies were piled into mass graves, the weight of history pressing down upon them.

But the dead do not forget.

The Night Watchman’s Warning

Decades after the hospital’s construction, strange things began to happen on the night shift. Nurses whispered of cold spots in empty hallways, of beds rolling on their own, and of disembodied voices calling out in the dark.

One security guard, Mr. Hanna, had been working at PMH for twenty years. He scoffed at the rumors until one night.

As he made his rounds past the maternity ward, he saw a figure in the shadows. A tall woman in tattered clothes stood barefoot in the hallway, her head bowed. Thinking it was a patient who had wandered off, he called out, “Miss, you lost”

She did not answer.

As he stepped closer, she lifted her head her eyes were hollow, and her face was gaunt, as if she had never seen sunlight. She opened her mouth to speak, but the only sound was the rattling of chains.

Then, she vanished.

The Unearthed Secret

Disturbed by what he saw, Mr. Hanna started digging into the history of the hospital grounds. What he found shook him to his core.

Old records from the British colonial era confirmed what many had suspected PMH was built over an old slave burial ground. Hundreds, if not thousands, of enslaved Bahamians were buried there with no markers, no names, and no peace. The construction of the hospital had disturbed their rest, but their spirits remained.

The Hospital That Never Sleeps

To this day, patients and staff report eerie encounters.
The cries of unseen infants echo through the maternity ward.

Nurses on night shifts feel phantom hands brushing their arms.

Some patients wake up to see figures standing by their beds, only for them to fade away.

The land remembers what history tried to erase. Beneath the gleaming white walls of PMH, the forgotten dead still wait unseen, unheard, but never truly gone.

Historical Notes

Potter’s Field was a term used for mass graves of the poor and enslaved. Many such cemeteries existed in Nassau.

Western Cemetery was reserved for the wealthy, while the enslaved were buried in unmarked graves elsewhere.

There have been accounts of human remains being found in Nassau during construction projects.

Queen’s Staircase below was a slave graveyard proof

Queen’s Staircase below was a slave graveyard proof

Of course they didn’t get tombstones, they were African slaves.

Before it was named the Queen’s Staircase in 1897, it was commonly known as the 66 Steps. This was because it originally had 66 carved limestone steps (though erosion has reduced the visible number to 65). The staircase was built by enslaved people between 1793 and 1794 to create a direct path from Fort Fincastle to Nassau.

The Silence Trade

The Silence Trade

The dealers move in whispered tides,
Dealing hush where truth resides.
A dealbreaker cloaked in gold,
Dealign fates as stories fold.

A dealership where shadows creep,
Dealt in silence, bought so cheap.
The dealmakers shape the air,
Dealmaking hands unseen, unfair.

A dealfish drifts through quiet streams,
Dealbations paint forgotten dreams.
A dealate stripped of voice and flight,
A dealation lost to night.

The ink is dry, the hush runs deep,
The price is set, the cost will steep.
Yet echoes rise, they slip through cracks,
No trade can truly silence facts.
