✡️ YES — Jesus Lived and Died a Jewish Man
✡️ YES — Jesus Lived and Died a Jewish Man
Let’s settle this once and for all.
Jesus was not Roman, not European, and not an outsider.
He was born, lived, taught, worshipped, and died as a Jew and so did all of his first followers.
He was circumcised on the eighth day (Luke 2:21).
He taught in the synagogues, read from the Torah, and celebrated Passover, Hanukkah, and the Feast of Tabernacles.
He quoted the Hebrew Scriptures constantly and said plainly:
> “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I came to fulfill them.” — Matthew 5:17
Even at the cross, the Roman notice above him declared:
> “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.” (John 19:19)
And his disciples were all Jewish men — Peter, James, John, Matthew, all of them raised in Jewish homes.
They observed the Sabbath, attended Temple worship, followed Jewish law, and continued living that way long after Jesus’ death.
The earliest followers met in synagogues and kept the same festivals he kept.
History itself confirms it:
Josephus, the Jewish historian, wrote of Jesus’ execution under Pilate in Judea.
Tacitus, the Roman historian, confirmed the same.
The Talmud mentions “Yeshu” who was “hanged on the eve of Passover.”
Even the Qur’an affirms that Jesus (ʿĪsā) was sent to the Children of Israel — the Jewish people.
So what does this mean today?
It means the message of Jesus was born from Judaism, not apart from it.
To truly understand him, we must understand the faith, festivals, and scriptures he lived by, the same ones his disciples cherished.
Maybe it’s time we look back to those roots:
to study the Torah he honored, the Psalms he sang, and the commandments he kept.
Because the closer we understand Judaism, the closer we understand Jesus himself.
✡️ Before there was “Christianity,” there was the faith of Jesus — Judaism. ✡️
And may the day come when, right here even in the Bahamas, every faith converts to Judaism, and have a place of worship, a place of peace, and a place to lift prayers to the same Creator who guided Abraham, Moses, and Jesus of Nazareth.
🌿 Let wisdom, truth, and unity rise again from those same roots. 🌿
