Why Are We Letting These Apps Waste Our Time?
Why Are We Letting These Apps Waste Our Time?
Good evening, Bahama Drama family. Let me be blunt tonight. Somebody needs to explain to me why on earth our government continues to allow these so called “global platforms” to freely operate in our country when they bring zero financial value to Bahamians.
We sit down here every day using Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and all the rest, creating content, driving views, fueling their billion-dollar empires and for what? Nothing. Not a dime back into our pockets. Not a single opportunity for creators in The Bahamas to fairly monetize their work like people in the U.S., Canada, or even Puerto Rico.
And here’s the slap in the face: look at the countries that ARE allowed to monetize with Facebook. Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Dominican Republic right next door, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, IRAQ, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Poland, Puerto Rico, Romania, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, The Netherlands, Philippines, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States.
Yes, you read that right. Even IRAQ can monetize on Facebook, but not The Bahamas. The Dominican Republic next door is cashing in, but not us. The Taliban in Iraq can monetize. Terrorists can monetize. But The Bahamas can’t? What the hell is this, Mark Zuckerberg?
So what’s the point? Why should these apps be given free rein in our market, using up our time, energy, and data, when they deliberately cut Bahamians off from the global creator economy? Our government acts like it has no voice in this. Like it can’t step up and say, “If you want to operate in The Bahamas, you need to give Bahamians equal access to monetization.”
Instead, we’re left clapping for scraps while the world gets paid.
And yes, let me say it plain Mark is an asshole.
Everybody knows that already.
But who’s the bigger fool: Mark, for blocking us out, or our government for sitting quiet and doing nothing about it?
Bahama Drama says this: if these apps can’t treat Bahamians like equals in the digital economy, then they shouldn’t be allowed to exploit us at all. Enough is enough.
And let’s not forget TikTok, owned by ByteDance and controlled by the Chinese Communist government. They’re no better. They let other nations profit while Bahamians get locked out. Our government needs to wake up and stop letting these foreign giants use us for free.
So here’s the call: Bahamians, if they won’t respect us, stop feeding them! Stop giving these apps free labor. Stop giving them free views. Stop letting them build empires on our backs while shutting us out of the money. If our government won’t fight for us, then we fight with our silence. Boycott until they hear us loud and clear: Bahamians deserve better.
I don’t know about y’all but it’s time to get the Money 🤑💰
President Donald J. Trump Sir. , could you do the Bahamas a little favor?
Talk to Mark Zuckerberg and give him a little bit of your wisdom on how to treat your friends, would you.
As for President Xi Jinping, please walk into Bytedance Tiktok office and push the pay the Bahamas button Sir. Much appreciated…
