When I was cast off a mailboat
When I was cast off a mailboat
Part #3
I turned my body over and began swimming towards the island before it could get dark but I got so tired swimming and my body was freezing even though the sun was out blazing my head and face.
After a while the sun would go in and out of the cluster of cloud’s giving my head time to cool back down while my body was freezing. But no matter whatever I
continued to do them damn little fish kept coming back around my body following me. I then began to see dark shapes in the water a few yard’s away from me in and out as I continued to make
my way towards the island. All of this time I also kept hearing what I thought was the boat coming back to pick me up but it never happened.
I was so tired swimming by now I just laid on my back with my head towards the island and paddled my hands slowly towards the island hopping that I’m still going in the right direction.
As the sun began to sit lower in the sky I started crying again and talking to myself and God. I then started praying every prayer that I had ever learned in my life just hoping that
God would answer at least just one of them before the sun went down. As it began to get darker the water got darker and I could no longer see the bottom of it anymore.
I couldn’t hardly see the sun in the lower sky anymore either now.
