Them School Bullies
Good day. Can you please keep me anonymous. I graduated school 30 years ago. I must be honest, I did well academically but hated it. The one reason I hated school so much was because I was bullied every single day. One of the mean girls as I would call her grew up in the same area as I did. We went to the same church and schools. You would think we would be friends as our families knew one another well. I was a shy child and somehow because of the constant teasing, this changed my personality. I became withdrawn and very depressed.
She always has a clique. I remember in fourth grade how she raised up my PE shirt in the changing room so she and her group could look under my shirt. This felt like the worst day of my life. In high school it continued. She was popular and had minions that would think her teasing was cute and would follow her in relentless teasing.I have seen a few of them since graduation and when they see me they freeze. I say hi and just keep going. I saw a photo of them recently on a friend’s timeline. They were celebrating their friendship. It is so strange to see these people from the outside looking friendly, but a pity meanness can not be seen but only experienced.
Now some would say just let it go, this was years ago. It is hard for victims of emotional abuse to just let it go. I have frequent nightmares of the constant taunting and teasing I experienced. I wish the school had a no bullying policy, but it was more focused on academics and sports.
I hope this post is shared so that parents talk to their children about bullying and schools adapt a no bullying policy. Hopefully the bullies will see this post. They may laugh, but maybe they will stop and think for a minute about their behavior.
