The prophet of Abaco

The prophet of Abaco

Good morning Bahama Drama my name is Sarah Johnson from Abaco. I don’t know if any of you know about the story of the guy that they used to call the prophet of Abaco many years ago.

Well anyway the story goes one morning just like all the other mornings he was on his way to work walking down a long dirt road heading to work as he was a carpenter for one of the rich white Bahamian families in Abaco.

Any ways the old folks say that he used to love picking the Coco plums off of the bush as he headed on his way to work every morning.

The sad part of the story is that one faithful morning as he was on his way to work 2 young guys from Nassau robbed and killed this man.

When the hospital got the body they found one Coco plum in his top pocket. One Coco plum in his left pocket and the last Coco plum they found in the Dead Man’s clinched fist which upon removing it one of the doctor’s broke down crying.

The other doctors came in to try to console the doctor who had just broke down crying with heavy tears. One of the doctor’s said to another, I think that this man was a family member of his while looking in his direction whispering from a distance.

After the doctor who examine the body composed himself he was asked by the other doctors who the dead man was to him?

The doctor who had been crying bitterly said I did not know the man but I do know that God was with him.

The doctor then showed the other doctors the Coco plum that he had pulled from the dead man’s hand and it had the name of Jesus Christ on it written in a neon lime green color that could not have been written by the dead man because it started to appear as he was removing the plum from the dead man’s hand.

Years later it was said in 2021 that the Coco plum has still not rotten or blemished and the word Jesus Christ is still visible on it as clearly as it was from the day that the doctor removed it from the dead man’s hand in the late 1980’s.

Everyone in Abaco knows this story even me and I’m not from Abaco. But I do know of a similar story like this that happened in Long island. God is good…
