THE ART OF A SETUP

THE ART OF A SETUP

How They Turned Me Into a Monster for Speaking the Truth

by Someone You Might Know, or Could Be Tomorrow

Day 1: The Day I Spoke

I said one sentence.
One.
“That man tief more than the treasury.”
It was a comment under a post.
Just a sentence.
It got ten likes. A couple laughs.

By sunset, my phone was tapped.
My boss stopped saying good morning.
And the security guard at my job who used to call me “bey” every morning, he didn’t even blink at me anymore.

That’s how it begins.

Day 3: The Whisper Network

Suddenly, people around you start moving strange.
Not just strangers, people who love you.

Your cousin starts acting cold.

A friend from high school “accidentally” posts something about you being unstable.

Someone messages your girl from a fake page:
“Watch who you sleeping next to. That man into things.”

And then the trap tightens.

Week 1: The Setup

A man I didn’t recognize bumped into me at the gas station.
Said, “Big man, lemme talk to you for a second.”
He knew where I lived.
He knew my mother’s name.
He knew things only my closest people knew.
And then he slipped the line:

“They giving me $600 to say you tried sell me something. But you cool. So I just letting you know.”

He walked off.
And I knew then: I was already dead.
The setup was already in motion.
He was just being polite enough to warn the corpse.

What Is Framing?

Framing is when a lie is dressed up in just enough truth to ruin your life.
It’s when rumors become rope, and you become the hanging.

In the Bahamas, framing isn’t just a tactic, it’s a strategy. It’s how dirty politicians get revenge. It’s how they make your truth look like madness. It’s how they keep the people quiet and the money flowing.

How Framers Recruit Their Team of Plants

Here’s the part they don’t want you to know:
Framers don’t work alone. They build a network.
A web of liars, whisperers, watchers, and weaklings.

They look for three things:

1. Desperate people
Cash-strapped. Behind on rent. Hungry children. Jobless. Desperate.

2. Weak-minded people
They target those who crave attention, power, or validation. People who want to feel important, even if it’s for the wrong reason.

3. Broken loyalty
They look at your friends, family, coworkers, anyone who’s had beef with you, even if it’s petty. Then they offer them “a way out,” but at your expense.

And here’s the kicker:

If someone approaches you with a “favor” that involves watching, lying, or gathering info about someone you know, you’ve been selected.

That’s not a favor.

That’s an insult to your soul.

They’re saying: You’re weak. You’re sellable. You’re stupid enough to betray for crumbs.
Don’t prove them right.

How to Tell If You’re Being Groomed to Be a Plant

Look out for these red flags:

Someone suddenly wants to know everything about someone else, but they never cared before

They offer you money, a phone, or a job, but with strings attached

They start making you feel like you owe them

They ask you to deliver something “just this once”

They speak bad about someone and ask what you think, testing if you’ll take the bait

They might even try to emotionally manipulate you:
“You know he never respected you right?”
“Why she always acting like she better than you?”
“This ain’t snitching, you just watching out.”

Don’t fall for it.

The moment you agree to help, you’re already part of the lie.
And if that lie falls apart, guess who’s left holding the bag? You.

How to Protect Yourself From Becoming a Plant or a Pawn

Say NO early. Once you say yes once, they own you

Ask yourself: “Why me?” If they picked you, it’s because they think you’re easy. Prove them wrong

Don’t keep secrets for strangers. Especially those that feel off. Loyalty without sense is suicide

Value your name. When the dust clears, and people ask, “Who were the plants?” you don’t want your name on that list

Educate others. Teach your friends, your lil’ cousins, your coworkers: Being used is not the same as being powerful

Real Talk to the People

To the one reading this who’s been approached to help set up someone, listen:

You ain’t a soldier. You ain’t smart. You ain’t powerful. You’re being used.

And when it’s over, they’ll toss you in the same pit they buried their last pawn.

To the one being watched, stay sharp. Stay loud. Stay ready.
Framing can only destroy you if it catches you sleeping.

To the nation: Wake up.
These games are being played in boardrooms, police stations, and living rooms.
And the people playing them have no conscience, only goals.

Day 21: Exile

I packed a duffel bag and boarded a plane.
Not because I was guilty, but because I was done.
I saw how people looked at me.
Even my own mother started calling less.

The truth?

Once they frame you in this country, you’re either ruined, or running.

I chose to run.

Final Words to the Bahamian People

If someone tries to make you a plant, remember what they’re really saying:

You’re too poor to say no.
You’re too dumb to know better.
You’re too desperate to stand for something.

Let that offend you.
Let it wake something up in you.
Because if we don’t draw the line, if we don’t resist this now, this country will rot from the inside out.

I’m gone now.
But if this story saves even one of you from being used, betrayed, or buried, then maybe my exile wasn’t in vain.

Don’t fall for the setup.
Don’t become the weapon.
And don’t let them win.

This is a serious thing in the Bahamas for real…
