Now let me tell you what lays beneath the Queens Staircase in Nassau.
First off many Dead bodies of African slaves were laid to rest there, maybe thousands of them. Nobody kept count back then.
Below these shallow graves that are only about 4 feet deep is a limestone underground water tunnel with stairs on both sides with the waterways being about 20 feet wide and about 18 feet deep that leads to the ocean underneath where the Betty K dock once was.
This tunnel like the many others throughout Nassau was known only by a few, with their locations now being covered up in the history books of time. It’s also said that the Queen and the royal family had so much treasure, that they had to be spread throughout the Kingdom. Just in case they were ever pillaged by their enemies.
In the early 1800s – 1900’s many governor’s of England that were posts in the Bahamas were given the royal task of sealing these underground water way tunnels throughout Nassau. Even until this day only a few believe that they ever really existed.
