BREAKING NEWS UPDATE

An 18-year-old male was arraigned today, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, before the Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder of Mr. Rockling Bootle, who was killed earlier this month in what police have identified as the first homicide recorded in The Bahamas for 2026.

According to information released by state media ZNS Network, the accused will be formally charged with murder stemming from an incident that occurred on Friday, January 9, 2026, at a motel located on East Street South in Nassau.

Police investigations indicate that shortly before 2:00 p.m. on the day of the incident, officers were alerted after a motel employee entered a room to prepare it for sanitization and discovered an unresponsive male. Emergency Medical Services were summoned, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities later confirmed that Mr. Bootle had suffered multiple stab wounds.

Mr. Bootle, believed to be in his early 50s, was identified by community members as a taxi driver well known throughout Nassau. His death sent shockwaves across the country, not only because it marked the first homicide of the year, but because of the kind of man he was described to be by those who knew him.

Bahama Drama briefly knew Mr. Bootle personally and can attest that he was a genuinely good man, warm, cheerful in spirit, full of life, and deeply devoted to his family. I shared his video’s to Bahama Drama page because I loved his spirit.

He was not someone associated with trouble, and his killing was especially disturbing to those familiar with his character.

When Mr. Bootle’s murder initially remained unsolved, Bahama Drama took the rare and unprecedented step of calling on the United States for assistance, reaching out directly to Herschel Walker, the United States Ambassador to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. That outreach was made out of sincere concern, respect for Mr. Bootle’s life, and belief that his family deserved answers and justice.

The response itself highlighted the growing global influence and reach of the Bahama Drama Facebook platform. In a moment of national grief and concern, a Bahamian digital media page was able to elevate a local case to international diplomatic awareness, something no other local media entity has publicly demonstrated.

While Bahama Drama does not claim responsibility for investigative outcomes, this moment underscores the power of visibility, accountability, and cross-border attention when justice is at stake.

Bahama Drama now wishes to publicly express sincere gratitude to Ambassador Walker and the Royal Bahamas Police Force for their investigative efforts, which have resulted in the arrest of a suspect in this matter. While no arrest can undo the loss of life, accountability marks an important step toward justice and healing.

As this case now proceeds through the courts, Bahama Drama extends its deepest condolences to Mr. Bootle’s family and friends. May they find strength, peace, and closure in the days ahead.

May Mr. Rockling Bootle rest in peace. His life mattered…

Rockling Boodle was born on July 23, 1974 and raised on the island of Abaco.

The grew up in Murphy Town.

He attended Abaco Central High School.

He loved and played baseball for a local Abaco team. He met his soon to be wife when he was 21 years old and was married one year later on January 27, 1996. They would have been celebrating heir 30 year anniversary this month.

They created a family.. a husband, a wife and 4 children. Rocky worked many jobs like Abaco Markets and bag boy at the airport while he was in school. As he got older, he worked at Campbell’s Electric (a company BPL hired after hurricane Floyd).

In his prime he worked as a firefighter at Civil Aviation at Marsh Harbor Airport. Rocky started work as a Taxi driver after his older brother got sick and had to have his legs amputated. He worked to support his family and his brothers families. He worked hard.

The entirety of his life, he worked hard to take care of his family and friends. Anybody that came and asked, Rocky would render help and assistance.

Rocky loved music, he loved dancing (his nickname was Bogal) cause of a Bogal dance he used to kill, he loved celebrating.

He was one of the best domino players to ever play. Rocky won numerous domino tournaments. He was a fisherman and loved being on the water. He had own his boats and would have fishing trips with his brothers, cousins and friends.

Rocky was a pillar of his community. When hurricane Dorian struck in 2019, he allowed people to utilize his rental vehicles to make preparations for the storm and never asked to receive them back. He just wanted people to do what they had to do to prepare.

After the island was destroyed, he chartered a 100 seater aircraft to get his family, his brothers and sisters and their children, and anyone else who could fit on the plane out of Abaco. After many people became displaced due to the Hurricane.

He managed to get funding to provide 40 taxi drivers with Brand New up to date Suburbans and Expeditions to be able to take care of their families. He rebuilt a comfortable life for his family in Nassau. He walked through communities helping give groceries and supplies in Abaco and Nassau. He carried people away who required medical help to receive health care.

He would fly anywhere to support his family and friends celebrations, funerals, and hospitalization.

He never missed one moment.

He just wanted to help people and let people know somebody was there for him.

He was bigger than himself. His heart was so big, he couldn’t help but to share love and kindness wherever he went.

He was loved internationally. His tourists whom he met while rendering Taxi services became close friends. Every time they came to the Bahamas, their loyalty remained with him.

They would have good times while he always shared videos of his fondness for the love of the work he did. He was a true representation of Bahamian Hospitality. Even though he has always been a giving person.. that was the birth of Ambassador Boodle.

He continued representing peace and hospitality, continuously sharing his love and warmth with every person he met.

He encouraged people to love one another.

He promoted the love of God and was a faithful servant. He rested on Sabbath and always gave his thanks and praises to God for bringing him through.

He did more in 1 day in his time on this earth than most people who can only pray to live as long as he did.

He took less so other people could have more.

To the end, Rockling Boodle was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, a friend, and a superhero to many.

He was the best father anyone could ask for. When we were small, he had a special song he would sing to each of us, and his grandbaby, his fifth child, knew from birth that he was her Papa.

He brought home two rescue dogs to be part of our family and loved walking and playing with them. In his lifetime, he lived fully, giving so much that many could never repay and he never asked for anything in return.

He slept peacefully at night, knowing he had helped others. The circumstances of his passing will never diminish the character of the man who was Rockling Boodle Sr.

Another one of his nicknames was THE ROCK!

He was the foundation. He was strong. He was the glue that held the family together. Without him nothing will be the same.
