As a proud Bahamian and Junkanooer for over 40 years, this Boxing Day parade is by far the worst I’ve ever attended! Let me share my two cents on this.

To start, all the groups that came down had no excitement until Roots hit the scene and rocked the crowd. I mean, everyone was jamming. Good job, Roots!

But here’s where it took a turn. I was sitting out on Parliament Square from 9:00 AM, and the bleachers were where you placed me. My back and hip were in unbearable pain. Now, I know how those bleachers go, but my lawddd, if the entertainment from the hosts had been good, I wouldn’t have felt it as much.

Thank goodness for the Alive gentleman who came to spice things up and for the mighty Pencil, who had the kids doing the Reggie dance! Thank God they gave him that mic — now *that’s* what you call entertainment!

Minister Mario Bowleg, y’all should have kept that mic in Pencil’s hand because things got boring after. I mean, people were leaving! And what’s up with those tiny speakers y’all had out there? That sound system was pure garbage — you couldn’t feel the music.

And to Mr. Bowleg again — why does the Director of Culture’s husband alleged to have the sound system contract? Isn’t that a conflict of interest? Government, y’all are keeping jobs for yourselves! This needs to be investigated ASAP if true.

I usually stay to watch two laps, but not this time. After one lap, my family and I were out.

But SAXONS — CONGRATULATIONS! Three straight wins, and we’re definitely going for four this New Year! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
