A Call for Accountability and Fair Play in Exuma
A Call for Accountability and Fair Play in Exuma
By: Darren Rollins
There are serious and growing concerns among many in our community regarding the timing and distribution of grants from the SBDC and the TDC. To many observers, the current administration’s approach appears less like objective empowerment and more like a strategic attempt to influence the electorate.
When a representative’s actions create a perception of favoritism, it raises fundamental questions about fairness. It must be asked whether these public funds are being distributed based on merit, or if there is a pattern that suggests political loyalty is a prerequisite. Any system that even suggests the victimization of those with differing views is a failure of leadership.
To my fellow Exumians: I urge you to claim every grant, loan, and financial resource available. This is your taxpayer money, not a personal gift or a favor from any politician.
We deserve a system built on equity, not one that feels built on intimidation or all-for-me politics. It is time to move past what is widely viewed as a culture of entitlement and demand a government that serves every citizen, regardless of their political affiliation.
Exuma belongs to all of us.
