Belated Tribute: Remembering Rodney Moncur, passed at the ripe age of 68, three score and 10

“The Leader of the Women dem, and the Nation”

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and supporters of the late Rodney Moncur, a bold and unforgettable figure in Bahamian public life. We also sincerely apologize for the delay in sharing this message.

Rodney Moncur passed away at the age of 68 following a brief illness. Known across the country as a fierce radio personality, former Senator, community advocate, and social media firebrand, Moncur stood apart. Whether you loved him or clashed with him, you never forgot him. His voice carried weight, unapologetic, unfiltered, and rooted in deep conviction.

He was especially known for his deep connection with Bahamian women, whom he often called “his women dem.” His loyalty to the grassroots was unmatched, and his ability to stir national conversation made him a cornerstone of political and social discourse in The Bahamas.

Truth be told, here at Bahama Drama, Rodney was not always easy to deal with. He could be fiery, unpredictable, and confrontational. But one thing was certain, Rodney Moncur was real. The kind of real you don’t see anymore. He was a man who would give his last dollar to someone in need, even if that person was his enemy. That was just who he was, old school, hardwired to help, and sharp as ever in mind and wit.

I still remember those heated debates at McDonald’s on Oakes Field, sitting across from him and a few of the other fellas. He’d call me “ an American” just because of how I spoke English which drove me mad lol….

I hated him for that shit lmao!

No matter how much sense I was making, those old heads would laugh and shut it down. Looking back now, I can’t help but smile. That was Rodney never backing down, always keeping things lively.

Rodney didn’t perform for the cameras. What you heard on the radio, you got in real life. He didn’t wear a mask for anyone. And that’s rare in this world today, where most people are too busy trying to fit in to stand out.

Truthfully, I wasn’t a follower of Rodney Moncur. I didn’t always agree with him. But I respected him the same way I respected my own father, even if we didn’t always see eye to eye. That generation? They were cut from iron. They didn’t sugarcoat anything. They spoke from the gut, consequences be damned. And whether we agreed or not, they raised a generation of men and women who knew who they were.

Rodney Moncur was a relic of that real era and as we look around today, it’s clear how much we’ve lost.

We honor his legacy today with the respect he earned. May his soul find rest, and may his voice echo in the conversations that shape our nation long after he’s gone.

Rest in peace, brother Rodney Moncur.

This needs to be said because it’s the truth.

This needs to be said because it’s the truth.

Dr. Duane Sands has a heart of gold, and that shines through regardless of political views or party lines.

I don’t openly support any political party, but I do appreciate the bold plans Lincoln Bain and the COI bring to the table. At the same time, I also have respect for Prime Minister Davis he too has a kind heart. Slick for his age, yes, but you can’t deny he shows compassion even to those who may not always be kind in return. That’s what Christian principles look like, whether we admit it or not.

Bahama Drama has never voted for the PLP or the FNM and probably never will. Not because I think they’re not good enough, but because I personally choose to stay independent. That includes the FNM and Mr. Michael Pintard.

I don’t know Mr. Pintard personally. I’ve never really followed him closely not in the past or even now. But that doesn’t mean I have anything against him. People focus on what speaks to their own spirit and that’s okay.

Still, I won’t pretend I underestimate Pintard. The stone the builders rejected often becomes the cornerstone. Life has a way of surprising us.

One thing I will say without apology: the FNM has lost three strong and valuable voices in recent times, each for their own reason.

1. Sir Omar Archer
2. Hon. Richard Johnson
3. Mr. Peter Outten

Let’s not weaponize grief or turn compassion into conflict. Blaming Dr. Sands for Rodney Moncur’s death is not just unfair it’s wicked, crafty, and a tool of darkness. We are better than that.

Let love lead. Let truth speak.

Oh and Dr. Sands y’all will never win the 2026 election without these guys, Bahama Drama don’t think so!

So make it happen bra.

Why Every Bahamian Must Stand Behind SpaceX Rocket Landings; Because Our Children’s Future Depends On It

A Complete National Vision You Can’t Afford to Ignore
Imagine for a second that the Bahamas isn’t just known for beaches, breezes, and sunshine anymore. Imagine it’s known for being a part of humanity’s biggest leap into the future space. That future is not just about rockets; it’s about opportunity. And if Bahamians don’t grab it now, we may be closing the door on one of the greatest generational blessings ever to pass through these islands.

Let’s break this down real. This SpaceX rocket landing agreement isn’t just for the government. It’s for the barefoot boy in Andros. The single mother in Nassau. The elder in Exuma still trying to make ends meet. The unemployed teen in Grand Bahama wondering what the future holds. This is for them and their unborn children.

What Exactly Is Happening

Elon Musk’s SpaceX has made history again, but this time with the Bahamas. The government signed a historic agreement to allow Falcon 9 booster landings off the coast of the Exumas. These landings would take place on droneships out at sea; meaning no disruption to our land, and all benefits still flow to our people.

After a successful test earlier in 2025, the world looked at the Bahamas not just as a tourist paradise but now as a space-faring nation. Let that sink in. We’re now officially on the map for 21st century aerospace. This is not a small thing.

But Wait… the Government Hit Pause

In April 2025, the Bahamian government put a temporary suspension on the landings pending an environmental impact review. That’s fair. We must protect our waters and land. But once that review clears, and it will; we must stand ready not just to allow SpaceX back, but to welcome it with open arms and Bahamian pride.

Why Bahamians Need This Right Now

1. Tourism Just Got a New Flavour

With rockets launching and landing, we don’t just get more tourists we get a new kind of tourist. People from around the globe will fly in just to watch a rocket touch down on our waters. Imagine the money that will pour into taxi drivers, boat rentals, food vendors, tour guides, Airbnb-style rentals, souvenir shops.

2. Bread On The Table via “TouristRoomsForRent.com”

Part of the vision that must now go hand-in-hand with this agreement is a new Government backed initiative: TouristRoomsForRent.com. This project will allow ANY Bahamian citizen yes, even if they’re renting to legally sublet a room in their home or apartment for 1–7 days to tourists.

A single mother in a 2 bedroom rental in Nassau can now rent her second room to a tourist and earn 80–100 dollars a night. An unemployed young man in Freeport can turn his back porch into a bed and breakfast. A family in Andros with a spare wooden room out back can now earn passive income.

All this… powered by rocket tourism.

We must pressure Parliament to pass this bill. With SpaceX in the skies and Bahamian people turning their homes into micro-hotels, we’ll be combining the technology revolution with the grassroots hustle. That’s never been done in the Caribbean. We can be first.

Think Bigger Than Rockets

SpaceX isn’t just about landings. Their presence brings STEM programs for schools, internships for young Bahamians, scholarships from private tech companies, infrastructure upgrades in out islands, global attention and respect for the Bahamas in science, and new business licensing categories in aerospace tourism.

When SpaceX comes, every ministry wins. Tourism. Education. Labor. Finance. Public Works.

From Paradise to Atlantis 2.0

Here’s the real kicker. If we play this right, the Bahamas could become the real world Atlantis 2.0 not a myth, but a living, breathing model of what happens when a small island nation partners with the most advanced mind in human history.

A strategic alliance with Elon Musk can bring a Tesla Gigafactory on Grand Bahama, a Neuralink research center in Exuma, Starlink HQ in Eleuthera, a Tesla Bot Optimus assembly lab on Andros, Hyperloop tunnels under Nassau’s congested roads, AI powered education hubs backed by xAI and Grok AI, and global media HQs using X Corp’s platforms.

No other island nation on Earth would come close to that level of progress. We wouldn’t just be advanced we’d be light-years ahead.

That’s what a Bahamian Musk alliance represents. A chance to become the futuristic Atlantis that Plato dreamed of, not sunk under the sea, but rising above the tide of poverty, corruption, and mediocrity.

Atlantis 2.0 is not science fiction. It’s national vision backed by rocket fuel.

Don’t Let Politics Destroy The Future

Now here’s the sobering truth. Opposition party politics could kill this deal.

We must call this out for what it is. Destructive political ambition masked as concern. Some opposition leaders will try to use propaganda and half-truths to scare the public, delay progress, and destroy momentum not because they care about the Bahamian people, but because they want credit when they win the next election.

If the opposition blocks this deal today, they will be crawling yes, crawling at Elon Musk’s feet in 2027 begging for the very same opportunity they destroyed.

But by then… it may be too late.

By then, Elon might’ve taken his landings to Aruba. Or Panama. Or some Pacific island that welcomed him with open arms while we bickered and politicized our own progress into the grave.

If we allow that to happen, we will have betrayed ourselves. And worse we would have betrayed our children.

This isn’t about PLP or FNM. This is about BHM the Bahamian people.

We must come together across party lines and say. You will not use party games to sabotage national legacy. Not this time. Not on our watch.

The Real Power Is in the Spin-Off

Do you think Elon Musk stops at just rockets? Of course not. He’s the same guy behind Tesla, solar panels, internet satellites, AI and more. The more comfortable he becomes in the Bahamas, the more projects will land here too.

What if one of his AI research labs ends up in Nassau? What if Starlink Internet stations start popping up in the Family Islands?

That’s jobs. That’s Wi-Fi for school kids. That’s tech startup seed money. That’s a whole new economic class rising up.

Bahamians Must Stand Together Right Now

This is our shot. And it only comes once. If we don’t protect it and fight for it if we let jealousy, small thinking, or foreign lobbyists convince us to kill this movement then we’ll regret it in 10 years when Jamaica or Barbados takes the lead we should’ve owned.

We must tell the government loud and clear. Reinstate the SpaceX rocket landing agreement. Expand it. And pass the Tourist Rooms for Rent law now.

This isn’t about Elon Musk. This is about a barefoot Bahamian child today… walking into a future we built for them, where science meets survival.

Because we ain’t just selling rocket landings. We’re selling dignity. We’re selling opportunity. We’re selling a better Bahamas.

And if we let this die because of partisan politics or selfish ambition then the only thing we’ll be launching is regret.
