God’s Chosen Ones

God’s Chosen Ones

“Many are called, but few are chosen.”

Even if a pearl is cast into the mud,
its brilliance remains untouched,
its worth unchanged.

So it is with those whom God has chosen,
though life may cover them in sorrow or shame,
they are never forgotten,
never forsaken,
forever precious in His sight.

To lift a hand against them
is to stir the wrath of heaven,
to war unknowingly with angels.

But to bless them,
to show kindness to the outcast,
mercy to the weary,
love to the unloved,
is to invite heaven’s favor,
to find mercy when you need it most.

For the angels of God
stand witness to every deed
done in secret
for His beloved few.

Bahama Drama is certainly one of these rare chosen ones…

🕊️ My Bird’s Eye

🕊️ My Bird’s Eye

by Damian from East Street

Good morning Bahama Drama my name is Damian I from East Street and I love animals especially birds.

From I was a lil boy I been into birds. Me and my boys used to climb up on dangerous rooftops and inside old abandoned houses just to look for bird nests. We used to take the eggs or the baby chicks and raise them like they was our own.

One baby pigeon in particular I raise him from small. I used to take my grocery bagging tips and buy grind up corn mix it with milk to feed him. I ain’t know no better I was just a child and I thought birds needed milk just like babies.

That was the happiest time of my childhood. Other boys was outside dirt diving or playing in the park. But not me I was raising my baby. I used to dream he would teach me to fly. I used to wish he could turn me into a bird and we would fly away together.

Deep inside I already knew I wanted to escape the ghetto fly somewhere better.

I remember when he start growing lil yellow feathers on his wings flapping whenever he see me coming with food. I laugh every time he act like he had attitude especially when I put my hand too close to his box. Mind you I was only 12 years old but I felt like a real parent.

That summer the yellow feathers drop off and real wings grow in. It was time to teach him how to fly even though I ain’t could fly myself.

Only thing the yard had plenty stray cats next door always jumping the wall trying to get him. I used to run them with sticks and stones cause I know what they was up to.

Oh and did I mention I had a few villain brothers

Yeah man they used to torment my bird bad. Every day they trying to kill him and lying to my mother saying Mummy the bird attack me but that was just their excuse.

To teach him how to fly I would take him out the yard to the back street. I’d pretend like I leaving him and when I get a few yards away he would fly straight to me. I used to laugh hard and tell him I going to work now cause that’s what I always used to say after I feed him and he understood.

Day by day he started flying further. Then landing on my shoulder. Then my head. Then flipping in the air. My lil baby was a full stunt flyer.

Then one day I came home and my mommy said I ain’t see your pigeon all day

By then I had stop locking him in the lil box I used to let him roam free cause I trusted him. But that day he was gone.

I cry man. I felt like them villain brothers or them damn cats musta finally get him.

His name was Igor. I don’t even know if he was a boy or girl for real. But fifty years later I still love and understand pigeons more than any other bird on this planet. I still speak their language I still understand every sound they make.

When I had my first son I named him Igor. I never tell him where the name come from.

Today my son Igor is one of the best traffic officers in the history of the Royal Bahamas Police Force. He been writing more traffic tickets than anyone in 2024 and he get a certificate for it too.

Who woulda ever thought that a lil barefoot boy from East Street would grow up to raise a pigeon and then raise a son with the same spirit strong focused flying high.

Igor will always be a part of me

Look it’s led or gold 🪙

Hey Bahama Drama please keep me anonymous. I found this looking for old coins at the fort fin Castle today with my metal detector. I hope it’s really gold like my metal detector says. Tomorrow I will turn it over to police and get a medal for my discovery.
