Bahama Drama News Exclusive: From Crime Scene to Courtroom – The Tragic Case of Teangela Tate and Baby Noel
Bahama Drama News Team – This is a story that shook Arkansas from its first breaking moment in February 2024 and has now closed another chapter with a conviction in September 2025.
The Beginning: February 13, 2024
On that cold Tuesday morning at 9:47 a.m., North Little Rock police were called to the Interstate 440 on-ramp of Highway 165 after reports of a possible deceased person. What officers found was a heartbreaking scene:
27-year-old Teangela Tate, lifeless.
2-month-old baby Noel Mott, also found deceased.
A second child, a 16-month-old toddler, badly injured but still alive, rushed immediately to hospital care.
The horror didn’t stop there. Investigators quickly linked the case to 43-year-old Willie Mott Jr., the father of baby Noel and partner of Tate. He was taken into custody later that day on unrelated warrants, but suspicions mounted fast.
The Investigation: Piecing Together the Truth
Detectives, armed with a search warrant, combed through two separate locations in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Their findings were chilling: Teangela Tate had been shot inside the home she shared with Mott. The evidence tied him directly to the crime.
What followed were serious charges:
Two counts of capital murder (for Teangela and baby Noel)
One count of attempted capital murder (for the injured toddler who miraculously survived)
Shockingly, Mott’s own mother was also arrested. Prosecutors charged her with hindering apprehension or prosecution and tampering with physical evidence, alleging she played a role in covering up her son’s crimes.
The Courtroom: September 19, 2025
After more than a year of waiting, justice had its day. A Pulaski County jury convicted Willie Mott Jr. for the brutal killings of Teangela Tate and baby Noel, as well as for the attempted murder of Tate’s surviving child.
The sentence:
Two consecutive life sentences in the Arkansas Department of Correction.
An additional 25 years added on top.
Mott showed little remorse during trial proceedings, and no clear motive for his actions was ever revealed. The unanswered question of “Why?” lingers painfully for family and community members.
Bahama Drama Reflection
This case is more than a headline. It is a reminder of the silent struggles behind closed doors, of domestic violence that escalates to the unthinkable. Two lives were cut short far too soon, and one child will live carrying the scars of survival.
Bahama Drama will continue to follow stories like this, not to glorify the violence, but to shine a light, to remind our followers that justice, while slow, does come.

Domestic Violence Turns Deadly in Bossier City
The Bahama Drama News Team is following a heartbreaking case out of Bossier City, Louisiana, where a family is mourning the violent death of 44-year-old Manissa Tranell Howard.
According to police reports, Manissa was killed inside the Villaggio Apartments by her estranged husband, Christopher Hughes, who later turned the gun on himself.
How it unfolded
On September 14, emergency dispatchers received a chilling 911 call. A family member reported that Hughes admitted to having “done something bad” to his wife and threatened to harm himself. When negotiators tried to talk him down, Hughes allegedly warned officers that if they entered the apartment, he would end his own life.
SWAT and hostage negotiators were quickly deployed. At one point, Hughes reportedly admitted that his wife was already “gone.” Soon after, when police tried to enter, he opened fire, wounding two Bossier City police officers. Thankfully, both officers survived and have since been released from the hospital.
Inside the apartment, officers discovered Manissa Howard fatally shot in the bedroom. Hughes was found in another room with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He later died at the hospital.
Family remembers a ‘ray of sunshine’
Loved ones describe Manissa as “a ray of sunshine”, a woman full of life, helpful, and deeply loved by her family and friends. Her sudden, violent death has left the community shaken and her family devastated.
The bigger picture: violence behind closed doors
This tragedy highlights once again the dangers of domestic violence, not just in Louisiana, but everywhere. Too often, warning signs go unheeded until it is too late. Hughes allegedly used threats of suicide and violence as control, a red flag in many abusive relationships.
In this case, the threats escalated to murder and a standoff that put law enforcement officers at risk.
Bahama Drama’s reflection
While this story is out of the United States, the lessons are just as relevant to us in the Bahamas. Domestic violence does not stop at borders. Too many families across the Caribbean are grieving similar losses in silence.
The cycle of abuse, control, threats, violence leads to heartbreak, and often the victims are remembered only in tragedy. We cannot allow this to keep happening in our communities.
