I didn't hire you to sex my husband

😢 I Didn’t Hire You to Sleep with My Husband

Anonymous Confession of a Young Bahamian Mother Trying to Make It

Good afternoon Bahama Drama please keep me anonymous.

Last month, I started a new job at the mall. Just a cashier job. I was so proud. The owner trained me personally. Told me if anything got too hard, I could call him for help. Everything was going fine until today.

I’m 19. I have a daughter. I’m trying to take some side classes to get a nursing certificate. I’m working, learning, surviving. But today… his wife came.

She stood behind me while I was cashing, and I panicked. I hadn’t frozen up like that in two weeks, but her presence had me stumbling. I started messing up orders. The line got long. She stepped in, told me to move.

After ringing everyone up, she turned to me and said something I’ll never forget: “I hope you ain’t here to try sleep with my husband. I know how y’all young girls go.”

I was stunned. I said, “Excuse me, ma’am?”
She rolled her eyes. “You can’t cash. You don’t know what you’re doing. It looks like all he hired you for is looks.”

My heart broke. I held back tears. I didn’t even know this woman until today my coworkers had to tell me who she was.

She sent me to clean out the storage room, saying at least that would make me useful. And I did it. Not because I agreed. But because I need this job for me and my child. I stayed quiet. I swallowed the pain.

After lunch, the owner came back and asked why I wasn’t at the register. I told him, “Your wife said to clean the storage room.”
He looked confused and said, “No I hired you to cash, not to clean. Go back to the register.”

I did as he said, but when I returned, his wife was still there. She got angry. Later, after he left, she wrote me up.

I don’t even know what to say anymore. All I want to do is work. Earn a paycheck. Support my daughter. Study for my future. But sometimes it feels like no matter how hard I try, life keeps knocking me back down.

I don’t know how much more of this I can take.
